Killing Floor, the first book in the series. The show follows the plot closely, with some added subplots and a slightly different ending.
Bad Luck and Trouble, the eleventh book. It follows Reacher reuniting with his old military unit to investigate the deaths of former teammates.
Persuader, the seventh book. Reacher goes undercover inside a drug lord's compound.
Optional. The show works on its own. Reading Killing Floor before Season 1 is the most rewarding combination since the show is very faithful.
Fans overwhelmingly prefer Ritchson to Tom Cruise. Ritchson matches the physical description (6'2", 235 lbs) and captures the character's blunt humor and intensity.
Amazon has renewed Reacher through at least Season 4. Each season is expected to adapt a different book from the series.
