Publication order, no exceptions. Start with The Eye of the World (1990) and read straight through to A Memory of Light (2013).
14 main novels plus a prequel (New Spring). The prequel is best read after book 5 or after the full series.
Books 7-10 are widely considered slower. The pace picks up dramatically in book 11 and the Sanderson-written finale is excellent.
