Julia Quinnbooks & movies in order
Netflix turned Julia Quinn's Regency romance novels into a cultural phenomenon. The show follows the eight Bridgerton siblings, each of whom gets their own love story in the books. The series adapts them out of order, so matching books to seasons requires a guide.

Watch the show in season order (1, 2, 3). Each season stands alone as a romance, but the Bridgerton family develops across seasons. The books can be read in publication order independently of the show.

Frequently asked questions
The core romances are faithful, but the show adds subplots (Queen Charlotte's backstory, the Featherington family drama) and changes some details. Season 3 skipped ahead to Penelope and Colin's story from book 4.
The show adapted book 4 (Romancing Mister Bridgerton) for Season 3 because Penelope and Colin's slow-burn had been building since Season 1. Benedict's story (book 3) will be Season 4.
Either order works. The books are lighter and faster reads than the show suggests. Reading the corresponding book before each season gives you more insight into the romance, but the show works perfectly on its own.
